Scouts
Canada's Climate Change program is in full swing! We have
developed great new resources to make this an exciting
program addition. Key themes revolve around recycling,
energy audits and activities that enable youth to save
energy at home and reduce Green-house Gases (GHG). Resource
books and crests are available at the Scout Shop.

Below is a link for viewing current

radars across the provice. Once the image has loaded,

Weather Radar -
Ontario
Images for
the past hour and a half will give you a sense of the
speed and direction of the clouds. This site is very effective
for predicting imminent storms, rain showers or snow storms.
Generally, you will only see the denser, moisture bearing
clouds ... light clouds and overcast sky do not show up
on the radar.
Satellite imagery
will give you an idea of what an entire storm system is
doing, where it is headed and how soon. Dark orange and
red patches pack all of the power of the storm. To view
satellite imagery, select "Satellite Imagery" on the left
side of the page, then select the first "medium" image
under "GOES-east"

BEAVERS IN WINTER
(Kenora - Feb, 2008)
|
While the furry Beavers may sleep through the winter, the human kind are playing in the snow. The 2nd Kenora Beaver Colony and their Dads spend Feb 2nd and 3rd on Scout Island. They pulled each other in dog sleds on the ice, cooked over a fire, slid down snowy banks to the lake, went snowshoeing on the trails and ice fished.

|
|
|
While ice fishing, they landed one pike and one perch. Not enough for supper but no one seemed to care. The weather was perfect, the day full of fun. All were snuggled into their sleeping bags and sound asleep early into the night, dreaming of next day adventures.
