Ken-Kee Area crest Ken-Kee Area covers from Sioux Narrows north to Grassy Narrows and from Willard Lake, west to the Manitoba border. Ken-Kee includes Kenora and Keewatin on the shores of Lake-of-the-Woods, from which it gets its name.

Kenora Scouter Receives Silver Acorn Award
(Kenora - Feb, 2007)   Olean Jones, Kenora, Ontario, is the recipient of Scouts Canada’s National Award, the Silver Acorn. The medal is awarded for “especially Distinguished Service to Scouting”. Scouter Olean is only the second Kenora resident to receive this award, following in the footsteps of Scouter George Nobel, Kenora, Ontario, who was awarded his Silver Acorn in the late 1970’s.

   The award was presented on February 22nd, 2007, in Winnipeg, by His Honor, John Harvard, Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba, at a formal ceremony held at Government House. This award recognizes 29 years of dedicated volunteer service to youth and leaders, locally, provincially, and nationally. Olean continues her volunteer service to Scouting through leadership training for the region, with duties extending to provincial and national levels

WBI Training in Kenora

leader training   Kenora area will be hosting a WBI course for program Leaders on March 10th, 2007 in Kenora.

   WBI (Wood Badge Part I) learning objectives are typical activities leaders engage in when planning, delivering, evaluating and managing weekly programs - as well as annual program planning. Leaders requiring additional training/development can acquire these skills through on-the-job training, coaching/mentoring or by attending workshops. (more)

Silver Acorn Recipient Announced
(Council - Jan, 2007)
  We are pleased to announce that Governor General and Chief Scout of Canada Michaëlle Jean has awarded Olean Jones of Kenora the Silver Acorn Award. Olean's dedicated service to Scouting has spanned three decades at all levels from local to national influence. Olean will receive her Silver Acorn at a ceremony in London on April 28th when the Central Council meetings. Congratulations for a job well done.

   The Silver Acorn is presented for especially distinguished service to Scouting
