Kenora Scouter Receives Silver Acorn Award
(Kenora - Feb, 2007) Olean Jones,
Kenora, Ontario, is the recipient of Scouts Canada’s National Award, the
Silver Acorn. The medal is awarded for “especially Distinguished Service
to Scouting”. Scouter Olean is only the second Kenora resident
to receive this award, following in the footsteps of Scouter George
Nobel, Kenora, Ontario, who was awarded his Silver Acorn in the late
1970’s.

The award was presented on February 22nd, 2007, in Winnipeg,
by His Honor, John Harvard, Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba, at
a formal ceremony held at Government House. This award recognizes 29 years
of dedicated volunteer service to youth and leaders, locally, provincially,
and nationally. Olean continues her volunteer service to Scouting
through leadership training for the region, with duties extending to provincial
and national levels
